
David Cameron, the Prime Minister of UK at CeBIT 2014, pronounced to initiate the technology of 5G in Germany and UK as a two-sided agreement among several universities of these countries.
CeBIT is the Europe’s largest technology show which took place in Hannover, Germany. The PM emphasized on three things in his speech; first was the benefits of 5G technology and its implementation, second was on the project known as "internet of things" and third was focused on strengthening of the EU’s digital market.
Cameron showed his interference with companies like ARM, Imagination Technologies etc and revealed that new steps including spending a£45 million on the Internet Things scheme and planning to allocate a sum of £1 for the companies working on this project.
After the success of 4G, now it has been estimated that 5G will take over by 2020 with highly fast downloading speeds, about 1000 times faster than 4G LTE along with much lower latency and longer battery life.
5G technology has been gaining ground at a steady rate. Chinese have already started taking advantage of this advancement in the network of behemoth, Huawei. Up till now, many companies have spent millions of dollars on 5G and it has been proving itself effective and beneficial. Korea is also scheduling to invest on 5G technology in 2017.
British government has announced to work on technological projects with Taiwan in which 5G will also be focused in their program of UK Science and Innovation Network (SIN).
