The U.S and EU Imposes Further Sanctions on Russia

The U.S and EU warns Russia about further sanctions that they will endorse because of its moves in Ukraine, as tensions continues to prevail in the eastern regions of the country.

The White House mentioned that Mr. Obama warned Mr. Putin that the costs that have already been beard by Russia will increase even more if unrest persists in Ukraine. However, Moscow continues to deny all the allegations regarding the unrest.

After a talk in Luxembourg, foreign ministers of EU said they had agreed to extend the range of sanctions regarding the visa bans and assets freezes. Moreover, they also mentioned that they are focusing to add up more names in a list subjected to European sanctions.

Foreign ministers also supported measures to contribute up to $1.4bn as a form of economic help to Ukraine.

The foreign ministers backed the fact to decrease or eliminate custom duties on the goods exported from Ukraine to the European countries for a temporary period of time.

The U.S approved a loan guarantee of $1bn for Ukraine in Washington. This was done after an engagement between the correspondent of Ukraine, Oleksandr Shlapak and Jacob Lew, the U.S Secretary of Treasury.

On Monday in the early hours of the day, pro-Russian activists assaulted another administration building in the eastern regions of Ukraine, disregarding a warning to depart or face expulsion by military forces.
